The route is The Rand, turning left onto Melbourne Avenue, right onto Durban Road, left at Chemist onto Delhi Road, left onto Sydney Road, left onto Melbourne Avenue finishing at Melbourne Park (DG12 6PP). The fun day will commence with Children’s Entertainer BJ between 12 and 2 pm with Potts Amusements (huge inflatables, Teacups, Elephant rides and Hook-a-Duck). BJ Children’s Entertainer will perform between 12 and 2 pm at Melbourne Park. Stalls, tombola and singing will complete the line-up. Beekeeping Experience with the Glenkens and Dee Honey Co. Join Raeburn Thomson, an expert local beekeeper for a look into the world of honeybees and beekeeping. All equipment will be provided. We will be having a picnic together, lunches and snacks will all be provided. The day will be split in to two groups, a morning and afternoon session, with everyone coming together at lunch for a picnic. One session will be bee-keeping, the other will be spending some time in the glorious countryside. 16 places available. Priority will be given to young people from the Glenkens. Free transport available from Dalry and New Galloway.

Join the Glenkens Youth Group at an exciting day of outdoor activities at the Galloway Activity Centre. Have a play on the wobbly waterpark, an inflatable water assault course, that is guaranteed to be a whole lot of fun. Battle it out in a game of laser tag, set outdoors in the woods. You can also try your hand at archery! Lunch will be provided at the lovely Waterfront Café. Free transport available from Dalry and New Galloway. Physical activity sessions will improve children's knowledge about sport but add to their skills set, gain confidence, experience and socialisation with themselves and others. Golf and Karate will be on offer. Children attending our Family Fun Day will get a FREE healthy packed lunch and attendance to other sessions health snacks will be on offer, letting children enjoy because of family food poverty. The Family Fun Day will be offered as a family festival. A trip would be organised for children ages 5-16 years old with accompanying adults/parents/carers and this would be to Glasgow Science Centre, this trip will be educational and motivational and related to the nature environment which we live in. Craft sessions will additionally be on offer, along with outdoor activities and these sessions will be child led with adult support.

Art of the Cosmos Young People will have the opportunity of a guided tour of our cosmos under our Planetarium as we visit planets, moons, stars, nebula and constellations before working with artists and our team to re-imagine their universe in paint, ink or pencil. STEM Pottery Although we’re a Planetarium we’re keen to explore all STEM subjects. We’ll be showing We Are Guardians (A full dome film exploring satellite technology being used to monitor and combat climate change) before looking at some of humanity’s oldest clay works and discussing what inspired our ancestors, we’ll then join The Wee Pottery to decorate their own STEM inspired clay work. The Story of the Cosmos Join our storyteller on a tour through the solar system before writing your own story of the cosmos. Sci-Club Satellites We’ll be discussing satellite technology and building our own model satellites! Ages are split for primary students on 6th and Secondary students on the 20th July

Kirkcudbright Development Trust – Family Fun Day!

Free family fun day, an event for all ages, including adults! All activities on the day are free, activities include massive inflatables, a ‘paint your own pottery’ tent, silly fun photo booth, and much much more. There is something for all ages and abilities. It will be a carefree day of fun, laughter and joy for all costs, no worries just all being able to let loose and enjoy the activities provided with their friends, families, and anyone else who would like to join in. Our survival day will be a fun filled day learning new skills, being active in nature and having fun with peers. Day will include a small hike, shelter building, basic fire building and frisbee golf.

Welcome to our Amazing Summer 2024! a fantastic array of local activity providers, staff and volunteers are working together to bring our children, young people, and families together in celebration of the summer holidays. All are welcome. Activities are FREE and we will provide packed lunches. There will be messy play therefore your Child/Young Person is advised to wear clothing and footwear that they will feel comfortable in and do not mind getting a bit messy. Please ensure your Child/Young Person can administer their own medication if required e.g. insulin/inhalers etc. We are asking for appropriate adults to complete a registration form to register their Child/Young Person prior to the start of our Activities. For details of this please look online, in the weekly KPTDT Bulletin or drop by into KPT DT Office. There is also a mystery tour which we will prioritise children/young people who commit to attending the most sessions over the entirety of the Amazing Summer Programme. Next priority will be on a first come first served basis. The grand finale in celebration of the close of our Amazing Summer will be a community party in the Gladstone Hall. Drop Off Point at the Gladstone Hall no earlier than 10:15 am and Pick-Up Point at the Gladstone Hall no later than 3:15pm. We are looking forward to sharing an Amazing Summer with YOU! A weekly play activity session for children 5 years and over. Free of charge. Each session there will be a sports activity (curling, tri golf, rounders, etc) , a cooking activity (homemade pizzas, potato boats etc) and a craft activity (knitting/crochet, glass painting, clay modelling etc). The games hall will be set up with lots of free choice play activities too. Lots of table top games, painting and craft materials, floor toys eg lego, knex, barbies etc. A healthy snack/ drinks table will be available throughout the session. A take away lunch will be available for all children to take away with them. Cinema day at the Local Buccleuch Centre including lunch and an end of holiday soft play session.

LGBT Youth Scotland will host 6 hybrid Sessions which can be attended in person or online for LGBTQ+ young people and their allies 13-16 (25 years if LAC) years living within Dumfries and Galloway. Each participant will receive an activity pack that with an exciting array of craft equipment, useful information, and a variety of snacks for each person to have the equality of experience across the 6 sessions whether together in person or digitally. These sessions will be focused on fun to allow young people to interact with a wider peer community and make friendships across the region.

Lifelong Learning (ESOL) – Dumfries & Galloway Council

This is a closed group that can be accessed by the children and young people who have parents/carers attending ESOL lessons with the Lifelong Learning team. The children will have a range of activities to choose from over the four weeks, such as, arts and crafts; yoga; board games and electronic games. There will also be a Family Fun Day Out (date and venue TBC).

Arts & Crafts workshops, 2 days a week for 5 weeks the summer holidays. At these workshops children attending will have a say on what they would like to make and learn. All materials will be provided and local artists will deliver these workshops. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Workshops aimed at age groups 5 years to 12 years. Robert Burns Centre – We will be hiring out the venue to take a group of children and parents to watch a film at the centre and provide snacks and refreshments.

Pony driving for disabled children and young people – come and try an exciting, unusual sport with a professional trainer who will teach and show you how to drive a pony around a field. If you would like you can also try grooming a pony and meet the other animals who live with them. We will ask you to wear a hard hat (provided) when on the carriage with your trainer. We have carriages that are accessible if you are a wheelchair user or have poor mobility. If the weather is bad, we do pony driving in a covered arena.
