We aim to deliver a Summer of Play Programme of activities for children in the Kier, Penpont and Tynron areas, using the village halls, park and community garden.
The programme of play activities are will be designed with an outdoor learning/play, nature and wildlife theme as well as a mix of cinema experiences and an organised trip. This is to help our families who are still struggling with the ongoing cost of living crisis to alleviate issues around holiday hunger and to help maintain and develop friendships and a sense of community cohesion amongst our youngsters throughout the holiday period. Each of our activities will also provide a range of healthy snacks and a packed lunch to ensure no children/young people experiences huger whilst participating in our programme. We will offer a variety of outdoor learning activities including gardening, cooking on a outdoor fire, den building, mini bug hunt etc. supplemented by indoor activities and the trip to allow for contrast and different age ranges/needs. We are also facilitating ‘quiet corner’ in order to offer activities for some of our participants who can feel overwhelmed at busy/noisy environment. We will also aim to be inclusive of families wherever we are able to.
