The Scottish Welfare Fund can give you help with things like food or heating costs if you have a crisis or need help to carry on living outside of care. There’s two types of funds you can apply for, Community Care Grants and Crisis Grants. A Community Care Grant can provide financial support for people to live independently. If you have a low income and: you’re about to leave care, hopsital or have been in prison, you face going into care because you don’t have the things you need to continue living at home, you’re struggling to provide a safe and secure home for your family, you need help to get important things like a cooker or a bed – then you can apply.

ProjectScotland is a charity that helps young people get on in life through volunteering. They help young Scots aged 16 to 30 to get on in life by volunteering full-time with a Scottish charity through partnering with hundreds of organisations to create quality volunteering placements across the country. Loreburn Housing Association deliver supported Housing for young people aged 16-25 years as commissioned service on behalf of Dumfries and Galloway Council. They aim to meet the needs of young people as they move towards independent living. This involves gaining the skills to manage their own home and work towards employment.
