Step Together Volunteering

CONNECT - ENGAGE - EMPOWER

We provide 1-1 support and mentoring to young people, and help them find volunteer opportunities that are enjoyable, where they can make new friends and learn new skills. We provide support as long as our young people need, to build confidence and aspirations, as well providing practical support such as help with CVs and interview techniques.

ISSU18

ISSU18 is a regionwide service for children and young people up to the age of 18 who are affected by problematic substance use, this can be either their own or that of a family member, which is having a significant impact on the young person’s day to day life.

ISSU18 consists of mental health nurses and a consultant psychiatrist whom are employed by the NHS. In ISSU18 we believe in keeping knowledge base and skills as up to date as possible thus to give our clients the best standard of care.

Home Start – Wigtownshire

Home Start support a wide range of different people, reciving referrals from health visitors, GPs, social care and child care practitioners as well as those involved in mental health services, education, early years and probation.
They help families with young children through a combination of home visiting support, group support and social activities, matching the needs of the family with trained volunteers who provide emotional and practical support.
Support is free, confidential and non-judgemental. Home visiting volunteers call by every week, for a couple of hours, for as long as the family needs support, or until the youngest child turns five or starts full-time education.

Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

CAMHS stands for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. CAMHS is the name for the NHS services that assess and treat young people with emotional, behavioural or mental health difficulties.
CAMHS support covers depression, problems with food, self-harm, abuse, violence or anger, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and anxiety, among other difficulties.

There are local NHS CAMHS services around the UK, with teams made up of nurses, therapists, pyschologists, child and adolescent psychiatrists (medical doctors specialising in mental health), support workers and social workers, as well as other professionals. They offer a range of different support for young people and aim to give them the tools they need to cope with everyday life.
