My partner keeps telling me to trust them. I feel pressured to have sex. What should I do?
Answer:
You should never feel pressured to do anything you do not want to do. In any relationship you should feel safe, loved, respected and free to be yourself.
You have the right to express how you feel and to say no. If someone is pressuring you into doing something you don’t want to, this is wrong.
Consent means agreeing to do something. When having sex, both people need to give consent. You can also stop giving consent at any time. Having sex when someone hasn’t given consent – said yes and agreed – then this is wrong and illegal. This is called rape.
If you need to talk about sex, you can talk to us through our Blether Live Chat’s here or you can also contact Sexual Health DG here.
It is important to be open and honest with your partner about how you are feeling, and if you feel that you can’t speak to them directly, make sure you speak to someone else you trust about what is going on. For more information on consent click here.
