Participants can book onto as many or as little of the activities as they like. All the activities are free. Children under 12 need to be accompanied by a responsible adult. Booking is essential. The activities are for young people ranging in age from 5-15 years old, depending on the activity. Participants will need to fill out consent and emergency contact details, upon booking. Kirkcudbright Dark Space Ltd: Art of the Cosmos

Art of the Cosmos Young People will have the opportunity of a guided tour of our cosmos under our Planetarium as we visit planets, moons, stars, nebula and constellations before working with artists and our team to re-imagine their universe in paint, ink or pencil. STEM Pottery Although we’re a Planetarium we’re keen to explore all STEM subjects. We’ll be showing We Are Guardians (A full dome film exploring satellite technology being used to monitor and combat climate change) before looking at some of humanity’s oldest clay works and discussing what inspired our ancestors, we’ll then join The Wee Pottery to decorate their own STEM inspired clay work. The Story of the Cosmos Join our storyteller on a tour through the solar system before writing your own story of the cosmos. Sci-Club Satellites We’ll be discussing satellite technology and building our own model satellites! Ages are split for primary students on 6th and Secondary students on the 20th July

Kirkcudbright Development Trust – Family Fun Day!

Free family fun day, an event for all ages, including adults! All activities on the day are free, activities include massive inflatables, a ‘paint your own pottery’ tent, silly fun photo booth, and much much more. There is something for all ages and abilities. It will be a carefree day of fun, laughter and joy for all costs, no worries just all being able to let loose and enjoy the activities provided with their friends, families, and anyone else who would like to join in. Our survival day will be a fun filled day learning new skills, being active in nature and having fun with peers. Day will include a small hike, shelter building, basic fire building and frisbee golf.

Glenkens Youth Group – Beekeeping Experience

Beekeeping Experience with the Glenkens and Dee Honey Co. Join Raeburn Thomson, an expert local beekeeper for a look into the world of honeybees and beekeeping. All equipment will be provided. We will be having a picnic together, lunches and snacks will all be provided. The day will be split in to two groups, a morning and afternoon session, with everyone coming together at lunch for a picnic. One session will be bee-keeping, the other will be spending some time in the glorious countryside. 16 places available. Priority will be given to young people from the Glenkens. Free transport available from Dalry and New Galloway.

Glenkens Youth Group – Galloway Activity Centre Outdoor Day

Join the Glenkens Youth Group at an exciting day of outdoor activities at the Galloway Activity Centre. Have a play on the wobbly waterpark, an inflatable water assault course, that is guaranteed to be a whole lot of fun. Battle it out in a game of laser tag, set outdoors in the woods. You can also try your hand at archery! Lunch will be provided at the lovely Waterfront Café. Free transport available from Dalry and New Galloway. Places limited to 15, priority will be given to young people from the Glenkens.
